Exhibition HistoryThanks be to my Friends: Selected Samplers from the Collection of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York, June 5 - July 18, 2004DescriptionEight horizontal bands in the upper half, in order as follows: band 1 is a floral vine design; bands 2-4 are the alphabet in upper case, lower case, and numbers 1-12, ending in various initials with H, indicating a family record; initials continue into band 5 and a translation of Dies Irae by Wentworth Dillon, 4th Earl of Roscommon runs from band 5 until band 7; band 8 is the year and signature. The lower third of the composition contains the initials GR with a crown, indicating the reign of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland, at center and is surrounded by freestanding forms such as hearts, diamonds, possible cross shapes and flowers.
