DescriptionElizabeth Tompson's complex band sampler consists of thirty-four simple and decorative dividing lines separating an alphabet and ligatures, a band of initials, two number sequences & ligatures, six 2 line verses, a decorative floral band, and an inscription. Four of the verses are religious, one a thank you to her parents, and one an acknowlegment of her unnamed teacher. Pairs of initials are scatted thoughout the verses and a pair of framed crowns each with different initials and the same date 1706 flank a band near the middle of the composition. Colors are green, salmon pink, red, blues, gold, and white.
