BiographyEllen Tobin was probably the 16-year-old, Philadelphia-born female, living in 1850 in the Philadelphia household of George (37) and Mary (30) Hogan and Thomas Tobin (29). Per this census, George, Mary, and Thomas were born in Ireland and Ellen in Philadelphia. George and Thomas are identified as carpenters. Might Mary, Thomas, and Ellen be siblings? The 1850 Philadelphia census transcript says Ellen was 14 but the document itself appears to say 16, making her ten at the time of the sampler completion.
