ProvenanceLinda Ford Wallace CollectionDescriptionThree alphabets with 2 ligatures and 2 number series stitched in red with 6 dark blue dividing lines including a large Greek key meander form the upper half of the sampler. Below is a somber moralizing verse in rhyming couplets embellished to the right by a depiction of a cat, a rabbit some floral motifs and two stylized strawberries joined in a cipher-like manner. The lines Greek key pattern seen above are repeated in two rows to complete the composition. Thread colors are red, blue, black, grey and green.
