BibliographySome of the green threads have bled into the background.DescriptionTwelve year old Sarah Ann Alder inscribed her sampler with both her age and date and also the name and location of her school. The predominantly green, gold, and tan sampler displays an upper and a lower case alphabet, a four line religious verse, a small linked octagon and diamond dividing line, two sawtooth dividing lines, a decorative floral band and an alternating flower and acorn arcaded band. In the bottom register the inscription is set within a stylized flowering vine frame. The composition is surrounded by a handsome carnation border.
