DescriptionA 17th-century silk on linen tablet and pictorial sampler: Exodus, Chapter 20, The Ten Commandments, presented in rhyming couplets above a pastoral scene with a shepherdess and bugler. A small black figure in a red waistcoat can be seen over the shoulder of the shepherdess. A small ship with sailors intrudes on the grassy mound. Below is a tree, a recumbent deer, and a depiction of Adam and Eve.
