ProvenanceLinda Ford Wallace CollectionDescriptionA traditional Spanish style sampler, hemstitched with multiple embroidered frames around a central motif or scene and the lettering (alphabet and inscription), oriented in four directions. The motifs in the center are both secular symbolic, religious, and domestic, including a boy with a watering can, a rabbit, a Catholic monstrance, crosses, Keys of St Peter, birds (a rooster?), flowers, and flower pots.
