Bibliographyhttps://hudsonvalleysamplerguild.blogspot.com/2010/09/agnes-blyth-1747.htmlDescriptionThe Agnes Blyth 1747 sampler is worked entirely in red and green threads. It displays two alphabets, one in elaborate embellished "Gaelic" letters, a number sequence 1 - 14, two decorative arcaded bands in blackwork style executed in red and green, a band of "boxers", two white and one black, in 18th century frock coats and striped hose, carrying posies toward flowering "goddess" shrubs. Below the boxer band is the inscription "Agnes Blyth 1747 UK" within a brier rose or berry wreath, followed by two additional "blackwork" bands.
