DescriptionThis sampler displays 5 alphabets, 2 number series, an inscription and verse, all worked in silk threads of green, blue, black, orange and tan on a linen ground. The lower third of the sampler contains a memento mori verse surrounded by floral and geometric motifs, dogs, birds, baskets, a vase with a single flower, and a pine tree. The composition is framed by a strawberry border.
