DescriptionWorked in rust and blue, this cross-stitch sampler displays two alphabets, a number sequence 1 - 10 and an inscription separated by three dividing lines. The verse below is surmounted by a running dog or wave pattern line. The bottom register appears to be unfinished. It contains a stylized flowering shrub flanked by pine trees. The quality of the materials, the stitching, and the verse might imply that the sampler was worked in a Quaker charity school.
