DescriptionThe sampler is framed by outer sawtooth border along three sides and an inner wave or running dog border. A strawberry band runs across the the top of the composition culminating on each end in a flower and stem. Two alphabets are separated by 5 dividing bands above a crenellated "wall of Troy" type decorative band with rudimentary or unfinished baskets. Beneath is the inscription followed by a heart and 3 letters - I Q U(?). The bottom register is unfinished except for the letters D and G on the lower left. The fourth (bottom) side of the outer band is a goblet band. Thread colors are gree, pink,blue, tan and black.
