DescriptionThe centerpiece of this large vertically oriented sampler is a large stylized cross stitched geometric bird atop a blue flowering branch surrounded by angular vines and butterflies. The branch and flowering foliage are in a decorative trapezoid vase rendered in perspective above a similar perspectival base. The triangular surface decoration and unusual cross stitch variation in the green V band in which the top stitch of each cross is double stitched and alternates with the preceding cross gives a proto-Art Deco feel to the composition. Wave bands setting off the makers name end in pendulant single flowers. EIght flower containers in varying styles flank the central arrangement. The palette is mostly pastel - pinks, greens, blues, tans and light contrasting with the orange of the butterflies and black and white of the two flower heads near the bottom. Note the tiny chickens in the bottom row. Thread colors are blue, green, and brown.
