DescriptionMichael Mazur's forty-one etchings for THE INFERNO OF DANTE were made by the artist from 1996-2000 and printed by Robert Townsend at R.E. Townsend in Georgetown, Massachusetts.

Fifty portfolios of the etchings are printed on Arches Cover White with accompanying bilingual text on UV Ultra papers. They are encased in two red silk tri-fold portfolios by Harcourt Bindery, Boston, under the supervision of Samuel Ellenport, and are contained in a box created by Portfoliobox, Inc. of Providence Rhode Island. These are signed and numbered 1-50.

Twenty five bound books with a bilingual text are printed on Frankfurt White and bound in black leather and red silk boards & slipcase. These are signed numbered in Roman numerals I-XXV on the colophon page. Each book contains one additional loose print in a special edition signed and numbered in Roman numerals S1-SXXV.

The Italian text is excerped form the Meridiani edition, Arnoldo Mondadori Editore and set in Adobe Weiss Italic. The English verse translation by Robert Pinsky is excerpted from THE INFERNO OF DANTE, copyright 1994 Farrar, Straus and Giroux, and set in Adobe Optima. The type was printed by David Wolfe at Wolfe Edtions, Portland, Maine. The design for the book & portfolio is by Anne Beresford.

An additional separate edtion of the individual prints without text are signed and numbered SE 1-25 and includes 10 artist proofs, signed and numbered SE a.p. 1-10. This is number 15.
