DescriptionDepiction of three Cheyenne buffalo hunters, two with bows and arrows and one with a small gun, mounted on horses hunting seven buffalo. A buffalo in the lower right bleeds from the mouth and two arrow wounds in its back while a buffalo at center left bleeds from a gunshot wound on its back. The hunters are dressed in traditional Cheyenne clothing, jewelry, and hair adornments in colors of red, blue, green, and yellow. The work has a flat, illustrative quality, with the forms filled in with color and are rendered with thin linework.
