DescriptionSaint Veronica was moved by Jesus' suffering as he carried the cross and thus offered her veil so he could wipe his face. When he returned the cloth to her an image of his face was on the veil. Depicted here is a young woman, Saint Veronica, leaning against a classical column with bare feet and looking to the side as she holds up a cloth with the image of Christ's face. In the background are trees and a blue sky.
