DescriptionA religious verse and inscription surrounded by a rose vine wreath form the centrepiece of this wool on linen sampler, cross-stitched in red, pink, greens, white and black. Paired confronting blue birds on a heart-shaped floral perch reveal a Quaker influence. The birds, the inscription cartouche, and a vase with tulips in the bottom register are symmetrically flanked by floral arrangements and additional paired birds. The whole composition is surrounded by a strawberry border. Thread colors are pink, red, green, black, and white.
