Label TextJudy Pfaff is primarily a sculptor who also explores materiality in two-dimensional works on paper. Like her groundbreaking installations of the 1970s, which filled galleries with mazelike accumulations of materials in linear and geometric forms, the complex composition of Squash incorporates large shapes and patterns, planes of color, and thick lines in a setting. The exaggerated details call attention to the woodcut medium.
