DescriptionMonks and nuns regularly have tables like this in front of them when they are seated cross-legged on the floor of an assembly hall or temple conducting rituals. Ritual texts, implements, and accoutrements are placed atop the table. Tables are usually carved or painted with foliate or auspicious motifs.
