ProvenanceBonni Benrubi GalleryDescriptionImage of two portraits from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Domenico Tintoretto's Portrait of a Lady in Black and Lorenzo di Credi's A Boy in a Scarlet Cap, joined alongside each other. On left is Tintoretto's half-length portrait of a young woman with a white ruff, a necklace featuring red stones and pearls, a ring, and pearls in her hair. She sits in front of a lush red and gold curtain with a book at her side and an open window at her right, revealing a clouded hilly landscape. At right, di Credi's portrait depicts a young boy from the chest up wearing a bright red tunic and cap. He's inside a plain interior and a window at his left reveals a background of grass and spare trees with water beyond. Both sitters are shown in a three corner turn and are positioned by Morell so they face one another.
