BiographyBorn in Birmingham, Alabama in 1955, Kerry James Marshall painted representations of Black individuals in his large-scale narrative works. Marshall received a BFA from Otis Art Institute in 1978, and he has served as an associate professor of art at the University of Illinois, Chicago since 1993.
