Susanna Rowson FiskAmerican, 1824 - 1881

Susanna was born in 1824, the daughter of Rufus and Eunice Stone Fisk of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The makers middle name of Rowson is not found in her family tree and there is a possibility that she was named for Susanna Rowson, the celebrated novelist, playwright, actress and educator who founded the first Ladies Academy in Boston. Mrs. Rowson died in 1824, two years after Susanna completed her sampler. Susanna Fisk never married and died in 1881 in Cambridge and is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
