Label TextRichard Bosman studied at the New York Studio School with figurative painter and printmaker Alex Katz, among others. He began making prints around 1978 when he produced a series of bold black-and-white linocuts of confrontational figures dressed in Chinese costume. During the 1980s, when he made Besieged, he crafted prints with themes of life, death, or survival that feature figures leaping overboard, drowning, or battling the sea or other forces of nature.
