Label TextMark Goodman was very interested in the ordinary. Finding himself in Millerton, New York, in 1971, so as to be near the Apeiron Workshops in Photography and study under Bruce Davidson, Goodman became infatuated with the people of this small village. Goodman writes, “What I saw and heard amazed me no matter how commonplace…the people I photographed everyday in Millerton weren’t [movie or book] characters; they were life itself.” In the early 1970s around 750 of the 2,730 residents of Millerton were under the age of 24. These young people were the focus of Goodman’s photographs year after year.
