Label TextFrank Stella, after his revolutionary minimalist paintings from the 1950s and 1960s, expanded his career-long innovations in abstraction as a printmaker. Between 1967 and 2001, Stella created more than three hundred individual print editions divided into twenty-eight series, making him one of the most prolific and experimental artists in this medium of the late twentieth century. Estoril Five II comes from the Circuits series, inspired by international automobile racetracks Stella had visited in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
