DescriptionWhite-ground technique invented around 530 BCE with clay that has almost no iron-oxide, giving it white color. This technique signals that object was not likely used in for long-term household use. Decoration is on surface level and not durable, so lekythoi with this technique are often used for funerary purposes. Scene depicts woman who faces a tombstone (cannot identify if she is a visitor or the deceased because there is no eidolon vsisible above her head)
