Fluid Expressions: The Prints of Helen Frankenthaler
Friday, October 6, 2017 - Sunday, December 10, 2017
Although widely known for her iconic "soak-stain" canvases, Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) was an equally inventive printmaker who took risks in a medium not frequently explored by the abstract expressionists. This exhibition highlighted the artist's often-overlooked yet powerfully evocative print production. From splattered pigments she mixed herself layers of luscious inks, these prints pulse with creative energy.
The exhibition was organized by the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation, which through a generous grant also made possible the associated publication. Support for the exhibition was provided by the Friends of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center Exhibition Fund. There are works that appeared in this exhibition that were loans to the Loeb and therefore do not appear on this website.
