The Secret of Girls: Selections from the Nicholas Rohatyn and Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn Gift

This exhibition featured collages, prints, and color photographs by five contemporary artists. The exhibition, named after the photograph by Justine Kurland, was inspired by a gift of nineteen works donated to the collection by Vassar College alumna, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, class of 1989, and her husband Nicholas Rohatyn. The Rohatyns are avid collectors of cutting-edge art and supporters of women artists, artists of color, and artworks that address issues of race, gender, sexuality, and the body. Here it is not only the "secrets of girls" that are revealed, but the private imaginings of those who idealize them.
