Black is Black Ain't: Limited Engagement Exhibition

In conjunction with the Vassar African Studies Department and the Dean of the Faculty's Office, the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center hosted this exhibition that celebrated the contributions of African Americans to the film industry. On loan from the Separate Cinema Archive, this selection of film posters chronicled the long journey of this country's black film stars, including Paul Robeson, Ethel Waters, Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Sidney Poitier, and Spike Lee, among others.

This exhibition was organized by Mia Mask, assistant professor of film, and John Kisch of Separate Cinema, along with the assistance of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center. The exhibition was sponsored by the Friends of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center.
